YEAR-ROUND ELECTRONICS RECYCLING

Effective January 1, 2012, the Illinois Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act landfill ban for certain electronic devices will take effect.  Electronic items such as televisions, monitors, printers, computers (including tablet computers), Electronic Keyboards, Facsimile Machines, Videocassette Recorders, Portable Digital Music Players, Digital Video Disc Players, Video Game Consoles, Small Scale Servers, Scanners, Electronic Mice, Digital Converter Boxes, Cable Receivers, Satellite Receivers, and Digital Video Disc Recorders are some of the common items that will no longer be allowed to be thrown away into the trash.

After being informed of this legislation Warren Township Highway Department will extend its seasonal electronics recycling drive to a year round event. The items listed above along with Modems, PDA Organizers, any type of Telephones, Stereos, Cameras, Video Games, Small Household Appliances, Alkaline and Rechargeable Batteries are allowed to be dropped off at 17801 W. Washington Street, Gurnee. The hours of drop off are 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT. Please use Almond Road entrance.

Large items requiring assistance to unload will be accepted by appointment only by calling Amy in the Highway Department at (847) 244-1101, Ext.  3
